Re: RESULT LANGE RINGNACHT GRAND PRIX 2022
Congratulations Greg and Fabian
Once again it was a great event.
I actually wanted to see the finish line again, which I managed to do last year.
But then my eyes (or one eye, because I ride with an eye patch) didn't work anymore. And since I don't have a third eye, I unfortunately had to stop.
But it was still fun. Many thanks for all the organisation!

Re: RESULT LANGE RINGNACHT GRAND PRIX 2022
Wow! I didn´t expect I would do that. I took the Lotus thinking it would be fun seeing how far I could go. I didn´t think I would finish. At some point I thought I´d wreck or damage/destroy the DFV. There were many times I thought the DFV might explode. I´d guess twice every lap I over revved the engine over some of the crests. I made a few bad down shifts too.
Thanks to the 3 drivers that let me pass on the start. That was kind of you. I hope I didn´t make Lassë A or Sanjin try too hard with me behind them in such an awesome car. I was in no hurry to pass anybody. I wanted to burn at least a 1/3 of the fuel before I pushed the car any. Lassë was leading when he retired. It wouldn´t surprise me if I tried to pass him before he retired that I wouldn´t have finished. It didn´t take me more than a lap or two to start thinking, ¨be patient, the strength of this car might put me in the lead before the race ends.¨
I was cautious the first half of the race. After Lassë retired I started to push the car some. By the time I started running 8:03s, I wondered if my pace might be faster than I did with the Ferrari in 2015. I was shocked I ran this race 22 seconds faster than I did with the Ferrari. I didn´t think I was trying as hard and I didn´t take any real risks with the Lotus.
It´s surprising that I had no problem finishing. I didn´t need to pee and my body felt decent. My eyes did get sore late in the race. I never expected I could keep my concentration for two hours. I thought I might have to pee. And I thought the Lotus might bite me at some point. It was good to drive a full Grand Prix. It´s been a long time since I´ve done it. And my last two laps were faster than my old PB and I didn´t make a single speed shift on those laps. Had I not been carrying an extra 3 gallons (11.3 L) of fuel, I might have broke the 8:00 mark. I´ve always thought the Lotus would be the fastest car on this track if I could ever learn to drive it well. I´ve done 7:58s with the Eagle and Ferrari. I tried a year or so ago to improve my Lotus time and the best I could do was 8:02s. I had given up on Lotus until now. Maybe some day I will break 8:00.
Congrats to Fabian! I think he had less confidence that he could finish than I did. If not for me, he could have ¨stole¨ himself a nice victory.
Thanks for the fun guys. I appreciate it. It was good to see all of you. I hope someday I´ll be back for a season with the Gentlemen´s League. I´ve been thinking about it for two years or more. It would be a great way for me to drive the learn to drive the Brabham better.
