these settings may be used to start Run1 and the GP on the "backstretch" and everybody has a chance to start a timed lap.
If there are no drivers who start their lap late, there should be no danger of collision. Obviously drivers leaving pits should keep to the middle or left hand side as much as possible. Drivers finishing their lap (i.e. cars approaching insanely fast beside a row of standing cars :weg: :grin: ) are obliged to keep to the right hand side.

I hope it will enhance our experience (if David approves of it, ofc.... *cough*) ;)

That sounds sensible Fabian, its a pretty long out lap. I might be mistaken but driving back in the old days I remember getting the pit board on the back straight as well. Hard to cathc the details now that it comes right before braking into turn 1. Dont know if this is possible to move as an edit option but it would sure be nice.

With the values above, the pitboard is displayed coming out of T2. To be honest, moving it a very few meters further away would be more optimal as you're still slightly negotiating the exit of the turn (2) but I have always been too lazy and have now been using this value for a few years. Works good enough for me. The upside is that you have enough time to fully re-focus on T3 & overtaking or being overtaken for T3, which for me has much higher priority.
You might try a value in the range of 1230.0 to optimize it.

Or did you mean the loooooooong "backstraight"?
If so I can provide you with that later. However, the downside on having it on the looooong "backstraight" imho is, that you'll get 8-minute-old Information (i.e. outdated info) plus even though it seems like "just a straight with nothing to do" imho one needs in fact full attention... but that's just my personal priorities...

EDIT:
the first Loop is always a bit confusing. Some see the whole Loop as T1. If I speak of T1 I mean the turn to the left after the start/finish. With T2 I adress the loopy part going to the right hand side. Then the backstraight behind the garages and at the end is what I adress as T3.

Hehe , no I meant the slightly longer straight , not the loooooong straight. The one between T2 and T3. Well Im in full support of your settings then Fabian. :daumenrauf:

I haven't tested that, in fact, I haven't turned a lap to do any testing. but I would think it works as it should represent a full fletched pit lane. Also I don't recommend it to be used in AI races as the AI swirves out on track straight onto the fast racing lane. :)
The sole purpose as for now was the Night of the Ring Event, where we have the checkpoints deactivated anyway (if we think of it... :hide: )
Anyone is welcome to do some testing and provide feedback.
At least for the next event we have a couple of months time for testing and improving... ;)
I just wanted to get it done because my brain sure would forget the idea until the next event.. :grin:

I like the pit stalls where they were. Some of the most exciting moments I had was trying to start a qualifying lap before time ran out and not interfering with Claudio and Carsten's chances to qualify. I was on a good Q lap until I spun in front of Carsten. I was under intense pressure on both laps in practice. I only faltered once with a minor spin.

I think the two laps in qualifying reduced my chances of finishing to the GP but I also think it's cool to have to do 2 laps if you want to post a time. You have to have great determination and skill to do get it done. I don't think mine is especially great but Kelvin's and Carsten's is.

the sole problem imho is, that some are 'lucky' and happen to have their stalls before the start-finish line and some are unfortunate to start their journey behind the start-finish line.
So there is a good chance some are able to "leap-frog" their starting position - even if they had a crappy "outlap"; just because they recorded a time while others didn't have the opportunity... just seems a bit unfair and distorting the competition.

anyway, it's not up to me if my proposed format will be used or not, so put your case forward.

I guess there still would be the option to use the grid tool and take the final standings as the order for the GP. ;)

Single-lap qualifying has its perks, especially if cars are released via whisper at 20-second intervals in order of the standings, but that's difficult to set up at 2:00 AM.
Also, people need to have the opportunity to practise on a full tank of fuel. In fact, I'd encourage it.

We also could transform the warm-up before one of the first couple of races into an organised single-lap qualifying session and use a bit of math to adjust the laptimes to set the GP grid, e.g. calculate how a 8:20.987 in the BRM compares to a 8:12:123 in the Eagle. I have an Excel spreadsheet that could do that fairly quickly, within 1 minute. The user pastes the GPLRA export, changes a format in a column, and the spreadsheet gives you the new order of the drivers, ready for copying into the grid text file.
Just an idea. ^^

Because I also think that's unfair, I checked track.ini on the race server. Fortunately I used the default.
From: stall_0 = 230.00 -9.30
To: stall_19 = 30.00 -9.30

But it's a good idea to move them to the "backstretch". I'm in favor, Fabian :daumenrauf: But in my opion, when we use Fabian's grid, drivers who enter the track with a full tank should wait until the track is free and will remain free for at least 20 seconds or so. :rolleyes:
