Re: Zolder 67 16th of March, round 4
No worries Tim. It was a sideways contact wheel to wheel so its more of a race incident than anything else. The door was open into T2 so I went for it but in hindsight that might not have been the best idea.
Shit happens.
Shit happens.

Thank you friend! - I´m just sad as it seems you have real bad luck since a long time .. all this doesn´t show how fast you can drive. I wish we both were more wheel to wheel -it always was a pleassure for me!

Thanks Tim but its not so much bad luck as it is a lack of preparation and motivation. Its been a lot of gpl in recent years and I must admit Im kinda saturated with it. Still the greatest racing sim ever ofc..

From my point of view, I should have let you pass in the previous curve, which was much less risky.Robert Fleurke wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 06:42It was clearly my mistake, I am still a bit rusty. But my second stint was great up to the accident. It sucks you had to retire...
Congrats André, Rainer and Tim
What do you say if we split the blame 50/50 and I owe you a beer?

Only three finishers, this was more dramatic than I realized during the race. Qualifying was good for me and continued in the race if I stayed on the track. Zolder is a quality track with nice flow and rhythm. With Brabham it became too tempting to bet beyond my means and I ended up brutally becoming a passenger. Got stuck outside turn one.
Good to hear your arm has healed well Robert! Nice to see Will back too.
Grats André for win, Rainer, and Tim for podium and well finished race, bad luck to us DNFs.
Agree with Dag about GPL as a racing sim. HIES provides exciting races.
Thanks to everyone for the race, administration, and programming. See you at Albi.

Hi Everyone, wow that really was a race of attrition.
First of all, Really sorry for shoving you off Olaf, I got caught out by the slipstream I think, and couldn't quite get slowed down enough. Another mistake I've learned from.
Great racing with everyone, I had Jose Luis filling my mirrors right up until I messed it up with Olaf. Still great racing, but I got a little tank slapper at the turn in for turn 3 and game over.
Spent the rest of the race watching the track picking off victims until only Andre, Rainer and Tim remained. Crazy. Amazingly well done Gentlemen.
Looking forward to Albi now.
Have a great couple of weeks all.
Cheers,
Seb.

The race steward does not agree (and I don't either)
Yes, I hoped you would let me by earlier, but then again I clearly should have been more careful, and respectful. I simply didn't want to lose time and took too much risk, and panicked. After the accident happened I DNF-ed myself intentionally, having the red mist.
But I must admit the penalty is quite harsh to me, even though it was 100% my fault. But I will take it on the chin

Great to be turning the wheel again. Has been a long time. Glad to see you gents still keeping this great league going. Hope to make a few more events this season as well. Seems I have missed a lot in the GPL world. SRMZ seems to be gone as well as the old GPLRank site. It took some searching but I was able to find Albi still hosted by its maker. I will tune up the Fez and try to go the distance in France. Hope everyone is doing well. Cheers, Will
