Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
Any thoughts on adding/testing the new 144fps patch to the server?

Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
With my 60Hz monitors I prefer 60fps patch. Doesn't matter if I force Vsync off (144fps) or on (60fps), I keep on having this tearing with the 144fps patch. Also GPLRA isn't supported, which is very important for me.

Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
Got it. I only use GPLRA to merge your fast laps with my slow laps to see where I need help, which is pretty much every turn.
Seriously I just figured 144fps was a step forward in this old sim. I guess not.
Hope the Surfs up next Thur.
Cheers,
Will

Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
As I am not registered with gpl alternative forum, I cannot try the patch.
For sure, changes would have to be made to the dg patch. Presumably the pit stop time would only be about 6s instead of the 15s.
It is also questionable whether my Refuel patch still works properly. If I extend the pit stop time, at the latest, the Refuel Patch would no longer work as it should. A lot of work would be necessary.
For me personally, 60fps works perfectly. I have an nVidea graphics card and a monitor that can't do G_Sync. Presumably the 144fps patch would run smoothly because the framerate would then be greater than the refresh rate of the monitor.
But I don't think there can be any improvement in my case. My eye already sees a good old cinema film at 24 frames per second smoothly. So I personally don't see any need to switch. Also unattractive would be the missing RA reports as Robert already wrote.
I have another problem that is bothering me right now. I can only run 36fps on my monitor with a lot of judder. If I understand correctly, I would need a V_Sync-capable monitor. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to this when I bought it.

Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
Today I have driven a test run at Kyalami, and I think we are on to something here
The car was definitely changing during the 40 laps I drove and it got harder and harder not to make mistakes. But as the fuel went down I was able to adapt my driving style so that I kept my lap times fairly consistent. With a fastest lap time of 1:21.15 on lap 20, and the slowest lap time of 1:22.322 on lap 40, and average lap time of 1:21.70.
My tires was really gone on lap 41, and if I hadn't crashed I think I would seen a huge increase in my lap times the last 4 laps.
@Olaf: Is there any possibilities to slightly reduce the tire wear? If yes, then I think we will see races next year with different strategies playing out.

Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
Thank you for the detailed feedback.
Changing the strength of the wear effect is one of the easiest exercises.
The wear effect can be different for different cars. The driving style also makes a big difference. That's why I would like a lot of feedback, preferably with pribluda wear values (I know you don't use pribluda André, but many others do).
Only then can you really judge whether it makes sense to change the strength.

Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
Understand.
Did a new test this morning. Did two mistakes where I went off, except from that I was fairly consistent. So the tire wear might be just right. As I mentioned yesterday, the thing is to be able to adapt the driving style to the grip as the race moves along. It’s so easy to make mistakes as the grip changes.

Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
New test with half the fuel as if I were to pit. A bit less consistent. Had won the race with this strategy compared to the previous test. But If I hadn't made any mistakes in the previous test, I would have won without any pitstop.

Re: dirtgearpatch NEWS
Thanks Andrè. Reports from other drivers (maybe with wear values) would be nice too.
I had a totally ssd crash an new years day. A very good start into 2024
Unfortunately I lost some data. One thing is dirtgear812, the version we have driven the last year.
Eventually if something on dirtgear84 is wrong I need the dirtgear812 file. So...please don't delete this version. And maybe anyone have a link to the file for me.
Thank you
BR Olaf
