Mexityre 21st March Round 4

Post by snafu » 04 Mar 2024, 17:25

Just put a benchmark time up on the server for everyone to ridicule / annihilate over the coming weeks.

I notice the main page still lists the pre qualifying server as Westwood Park.

Thanks Andre,
I would hate to think someone might think it takes me 1:51 to get around Westwood.

Track.ini with wider grid and more distance between pitstalls.

@Andrè: It seems the race date at HIES website is wrong. There is written 23th of march.

Hi Olaf,
I don't see any downloadable file. Is it just me?

Hi André, I notice the server has been offline for a few days, will it be back shortly?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

As always the server goes down when I'm not home. I'm currently in Spain, and will be back on the 19th.

Qual
A really good qualifying session, with a solid new PB.

Race
After a good start I saw John even had a better one and passed me down the straight. So I found myself in P2 following him in to turn 1.

Then as I breaked a bit early In to the hairpin, and saw Rainer almost hitting me from behind and as I tried to avoid that he managed to get past me on the exit. Dag also had come back after a poor start, and followed me closely through the S’es, and passed me down the back straight.

So after a lead across the starting line, I now found myself in P4.

Rainer and Dag slowly pulled away and I focused on getting in to a good rhythm, not over stressing my tires.

Then something must have happened to both Dag and Rainer on lap 6. I was suddenly closing fast on both of them and passed Rainer down the back straight, and saw Dag pitting on the same lap. So then I was back in P2.

At this point John had pulled away and had a solid lead, over 14 seconds ahead.

After a few laps in P2 my car was getting lighter and the balance better, and I noticed that the gap to John wasn’t increasing any more. And I was actually managing to close in on him. Not by much, only a few seconds over the next 10 laps.

So has we passed the half race distance I was curious if John was on a one stopper or a non stopper.
And as he did go quite a bit longer then the half distance before he pitted I thought that he might be on a non stopper. But then he pitted on lap 19 with a 12 second lead.

Then as John came out with fresh tires with only 12 laps to go I was curious if I could managed to hold him off.
After a few laps I saw that I did managed to keep the gap quite stable.

3 laps from the end my tires was gone, and I needed to slow down to be able bring the car home.

Congratulations to John and Tim for joining me at the podium.
