Qual
A bit messy but an ok qualifying session snatching pole position.
Race
After yet again a poor start I was under pressure down to turn 1, but managed to hold them off.
Tim had a good exit out of turn 1 and passed me down Santa Fe straight.
I really struggle the first 10 laps, and was passed by Rainer when I made a mistake in turn 1, and after a couple of laps John passed me down the Santa Fe straight. And then I spun on the exit of Mule shoe.
Finally after a few laps more I found the balance In the car and was able to pick up the pace a bit.
Then I saw both Rainer and John limping through Mule shoe, not 100% sure what happened, but I thought I moved up to second as I passed them, but then as I saw my put board the next time around it said P1. So then I understood that something had happened to Tim as well.
Had good pace from their on in, and managed to pull away from Bjørn. And then with 1 1/2 laps to go I understood that I would run out of fuel. And I came to a stop with 1/2 lap to go.
And just now as I was writing this I become aware that I could have entered the pit and fuelled up on the last lap
Congratulations to Bjørn for the win and to Tago for P2.
See you all at Road America

All went well, I was on a 1 stop strategy. Lap 7, I rapidly closed the gap to Seb who had troubles. Suddenly he lost it, I could not manage to pass him and touched the barrier. Wheel off.
Grats Björn, Tago and André, well done finishers!
Road America, yeah!!

Well, another disappointing race for me. I knew from the laps being posted on the pre qualifying server I couldn't get close to some of the times I was seeing, but I could maintain a good pace over race distance, so "engineered" a start near the back of the grid which would allow me to bring my tyres into the window without pressure and let the race hopefully come to me as the laps progressed.
I made much faster progress through the field than I had any right to expect and Tago and Bjorn appeared to let me past a lot easier than I deserved and I soon found myself in 4th chasing the front 3. I got a better run down the Santa Fe Straight and passed Andre for 3rd. narrowly avoided Seb's stricken Lotus at Dam and saw Tim's BRM in the trees on the left promoting me to 2nd. I was able to match Rainer's times ahead without making any real progress, but tyre wear was less than expected so I knew I could maintain the pace until my stop.
Unfortunately as I entered Mule Shoe I found Rainer recovering from running wide. I tried to tighten my line but was already at the limit of adhesion. I almost got through it but caught my left rear on Rainer's front right which spun me into the fence on the outside losing a wheel and getting stuck in the fence.
Oh well, on to Road America, not a happy hunting ground for me in the past, hopefully this time will be different.
Why wasn't Olaf present?

When I tried to start my computer last night, nothing happened. I don't even see the startup procedure on the monitor (where, among other things, the hard disks are searched for) - nothing at all, only a complete black screen. But the computer is running (I can hear the ventilation, etc.).Why wasn't Olaf present?
I was pleased at the beginning of the week because I had found the cause of the frame drops in the last race (the whole thing was triggered by the empty system battery).
And now the total knock-out. It will certainly take me a while to get back on the road.
Well, I've finally lost touch with the competition this season anyway. Congratulations Björn and Tago, well done!
It's already the third serious damage to this Joy It computer (and I'm not counting the battery), even though it's only seven years old.

Olaf, knowing how much you like to run with us, I'm glad your casualty was for technical reasons and not for something more serious .... get anything to run, even if it is 4th hand.
I like this track, so I was hoping to have a good time ... in practice I had managed to ride with confidence.
But after the first lap when we started to pull I discovered a pothole and I went into the meadow with such bad luck that Seb could not avoid me.
Sorry Seb... once again it's me who owes you a beer ... I heard you coming on the asphalt but my car was out of control.
Then I tried to focus but a mosquito that I tried uselessly to shoo away also made me lose the asphalt two laps later.
So with no chance to fight for anything I decided to finish, especially because after my two mishaps the car was not damaged at all.
Unbelievable that I finished second ... this track takes no prisoners.
Congratulations Björn and André.

First time I win a race and, in any case, completely unexpected this time with my lap times for 4/5 position.
Here I drove out on this track during the race two years ago. A bit unsure how it could go this time. I activated a setup from OZ which seemed stable. Furthermore, I made my usual modifications which ended up being a functioning race setup. The braking was a bit difficult to dose, especially in turn one. During testing I caused high values for tire wear (>100 unintentionally) which I then took advantage of by driving several laps and was thus able to establish that no pit stop was possible.
The track turns out to be very nice with many good features. For me, a good race, very satisfied and was able to control when the grip decreased. It suddenly occurred to me on the last lap that André had run out of gas after so many drivers had also dropped out earlier.
Congratulations to Tago and André for joining the podium.
Hope you get your computer up and running quickly, Olaf
Thanks all for the race, see you all at Road America
