I'm still waiting to hear a sad sorry from you Seb.
You can't draw T1 as if I wasn't there, especially after such a long straight line and a long time in parallel.
It's not fair play

Qual
And ok qualifying session with a new PB
Race
Had an ok start and hold on to P2 in to turn 1.
Then already on lap 1 in turn 7 I went to hard over the curb and was thrown hard back on to the track.
The car felt fine and I thought to myself that I had been lucky not picking up any damage from that.
Then I noticed that I had less power, or as I thought. That it was something wrong with my pedals.
I didn’t understand that the loss of power could come from the accident with the curb.
After 10 laps I started connecting the dots and said to myself, let’s try a pitstop and see if it’s something wrong with the car.
And yes it was, because after that the car was back to normal.
Tried to catch Bjørn, but as I pushed a bit too hard I went off.
And the towards the end I tried to push again and went off, again.
Congratulations to Rainer for the win, and to John and Will for joining him on the podium.
And welcome back to you Will. What a comeback

Re: Donnybrook71 - 7th November 2024 - Round11
Thanks you guys for letting me in after such a long absence. Very much appreciated.
What fun. Set a PB in practice just before the race server was launched.
Quali was certainly better than expected. Even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while.
Race: There was no way I could make it without a pit. Not sure how everyone else can do this. Seems insane. But it was clearly the smarter move. My tyres were toast after 17 laps. As Tim mentioned, I struggled a bit finding my stall. It was the 1st one. I gained about 1/2 mile on the field before stopping but after pitting I was way behind.
I tried like hell to catch the leaders and finally caught Tim with maybe 4-5 to go. He did a marvelous job protecting his position. I finally got close on the final lap. Gave it all I had and was so fun. Tim slid out and I spun in the grass. Being the gentlemen he is, he slowed to let me pass. Such class. I was good either way.
Grats to the podium.
Hope I can make the last 2. Winter is a bit better for me but I do work most Thursdays.
Thanks again for letting me in to your killer party.
Cheers,
Will

Re: Donnybrook71 - 7th November 2024 - Round11
Welcome back Will, Our paths only crossed briefly as you dropped off the rota shortly after I joined HIES. I feel your pain regrading the tyre wear. It took me over half of the season to fully understand what was necessary to complete a full race without a pit stop. I remember Mexico, I was about 3 seconds ahead of 2nd but knew "My Goose was cooked" before we got to 1/3 distance.
I'm over the moon with this result. I somehow got my dates mixed up and thought the race was next week so didn't start any serious practice until Monday of this week. I had seen a few high 1:35's during offline practice but was happy with my low 1:36 in qualifying.
When the flag dropped Tim got an awful start and I was surprised to be past him by T1. Rainer also seemed to struggle off the line so made up 2 places promoting me to 4th by T2 on lap 1. Then Bjorn ran wide on the run down to T3 so 4th became 3rd.
Will and Andre slowly extended ahead and meanwhile I had Rainer inspecting my gearbox at every opportunity. He got past somewhere around lap 4 but I was able to return the favor around lap 8, but he got me back on lap 10 and made the move stick. I was able to run with him and was definitely faster through T1 & T2 but couldn't force a mistake so had to content myself with just filling his mirrors at every opportunity. We passed Andre around lap 18, I was a bit confused at the time but now realise he had an engine problem. Eventually I out braked myself somewhere around lap 25 into the final turn. I don't think there was more than 100m between us until that point.
Sadly (For me) I burned up my tyres trying to catch Rainer and made a few further mistakes which hurt my (Already well past their sell by date) tyres even more and entering the final lap I was over 400yds behind. I presume Rainer had a small issue on the final lap as I made up about 200yds on the final lap, but perhaps he was just managing the gap.
So congratulations to Rainer for a faultless drive and Will for the final podium spot.
RRC is a new track for me so I had better go and download it and find out where it goes....
Glad you got your Gem+ issue resolved Olaf.
Thanks all.

The problem was that Windows had revoked my admin rights for some unknown reason. I was really upset about it. Even after I had found and solved the problem, I couldn't concentrate on riding for a long time because I was so angry.
In the race, however, things went quite well (just one trip into the green on lap 6).
I was out of the points until a few laps before the race, but then I got one thanks to André's last mistake.
@Andre: I had the same problem in pre-qualifying: I took off in turn 7 and then wondered about the slow lap times. And only saw afterwards in my telemetry that the engine had suffered a little damage.
Grats to Rainer, John and Will. It's a pity that you can only rarely participate here.

Re: Donnybrook71 - 7th November 2024 - Round11
Hi Jose,
Really sorry about our incident.
In my defence, I was hard up against the outside kerb and turned in because the road was turning right. You had the other three quarters of the track. As we approached the corner you started off just to the left of the double white line and drifted out towards me even more. Watch the replay (Starts at 50 mins), where am I supposed to go? I'm not jumping off the track at 275 k on purpose when I'm already taking a very outside line, that would hurt.
Look at Bjoern's line the lap before, that's diving up the inside.
Other than that, brilliant racing with two Ferrari's and an Eagle and watching a couple of BRM's scrapping at the front. Takes me back to my childhood.
Again Jose, I'm really sorry that the incident happened, I really enjoy racing with you.
Cheers,
Seb.

Re: Donnybrook71 - 7th November 2024 - Round11
Seb, thank you for apologizing
However, I do not agree and do not understand your explanations
Your apology should be a simple “I'm sorry I should have made sure you were passing.”
I have won you the inside for a long time before reaching t1 and therefore I have earned the right of way ... and it is your obligation to respect it.
The fact is that I was out of the race when I had won the position on the inside of the turn.
We are on lap 8 ... 27 laps to go ... which is a lot of laps.
In the last lap you can understand that the fight is for every millimeter of track but never so much race ahead
You should have made sure that you did not touch me and then follow me to continue the battle ... that is the enjoyment of racing.
In short fair play consists in knowing how to recognize when another is gaining position and you make sure you do not touch him ... then continue the fight.
You're talking also about Bjorn's previous lap, but that's not applicable because we didn't get to ride parallel in the corner.
In case you managed to ride parallel on the outside you would have won the outside and I would not have the right to exit on the outside ... but it didn't come to that because you don't respect my initiation of the turn.

Right of way
If you look at certain GPL drivers in action, you might think that the rule for the right of way is something like, “Any piece of ground I can stick my nose in belongs to me.” Well... it doesn't. There is actually an etiquette for right of way around corners. It's not just for the GPL or racing simulators, but it's basically the same for every level of automotive racing in the real world, from Formula Ford to Formula 1, and everything in between. “What,” you may say, ‘You mean I don't have the right to put my car in any empty space I see?’. Actually, no, you don't. And if you competed this way in any real-world competition, instead of being hailed as a racing genius, you might find yourself banned from even the most modest levels of the sport. Some things you see every day in the GPL are simply not tolerated when real cars are damaged, repairs are paid for with real money, and real lives are at stake.
In short, the idea is that you should be clearly level with the car in front of you before where the turn begins in order to have the right to have the driver in front of you give you some space. Getting clearly abreast means that at least the nose of your car reaches, say, the position of the driver of the car in front - and this is the minimum. More will probably be needed in many circumstances. The driver in front always has the absolute right to use the line he chooses without any interference if no one gets in line with him before he starts to turn.

Jose,
You had not won the position, a corner is won at the exit, not the entry.
