Re: Dijon - 27th of February - Round 2
Well, despite spending most of the race running alone due to messing up T1, hitting the tyres and having to stop for repairs on lap 5 I actually enjoyed this one a lot more than I expected. I was unable to find anything which resembled grip out there and gave up chasing lap times about a week before the event so was amazed to qualify 3rd for the race.
Had a terrible start, sorry to Seb who was behind, this allowed Rainer to get the jump on me before T1, so relegated to 4th almost immediately. I was able to stay with him easily for the 1st few laps until a brain fade moment caused a lockup and a slide into the barriers. It was obvious I had some suspension damage so limped back to the pits for repairs and tyres. I had planned on a single stop but decided to fuel up until the end during the stop. Rejoined almost a lap down with Andre about 500m behind.
I was able to nurse the tyres into something resembling a grip window and stabilise the gap to Andre while making ground on Olaf ahead. I could see Olaf was having issues and after watching the replay can now see he had a reset on track so was presumably running on 4 gears. Managed to pass him in the final turn onto the main straight.
Began to make ground on Seb who was next in line but would have needed another 20 laps to be of any danger to him so just concentrated on hitting my braking points and getting to the finish.
Congratulations to Andre, Bjorn and Rainer for the top spots.

I didn't have a missing gear. I only used gears 1 to 4. I set for 5th gear exactly the same ratio as for 4th gear so that I wouldn't be at a disadvantage if I had to do ShiftR and 4th gear happened to be affected. And that's exactly what happened when I had to do ShiftR after my engine failure. I was simply very lucky.
What I found very annoying was the full refuelling with ShiftR. I urgently need to change that. It's possible without any problems.
I've also been trying to do something about the tyre degradation that sometimes occurs when you brake off the track (like John in Kyalami). André and I are already testing this.
There will probably be another slightly modified dg version before the next race.
Did anyone else have problems with warping? In the first laps all drivers often became invisible for one/two seconds and then all drivers disappeared from Pribluda. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Grats to all time winnerAndré, Bjørn and Rainer!

No, I was simply terrible and slow on this track. I couldn't cope with the low grip and Eagle and my tyres always overheat after a few laps on tracks with a lot of closely spaced corners. After that, my lap times drop dramatically.I could see Olaf was having issues and after watching the replay can now see he had a reset on track so was presumably running on 4 gears.

Re: Dijon - 27th of February - Round 2
Qual
A good qualifying season with a new PB .
Race
Had to much wheelspin and Bjørn managed pass me down to turn 1.
A few laps later he made a mistake and I managed to get past.
From there on in it was all about managing the gap and managing the tires.
Congratulations to Bjørn and Rainer for joining me on the podium.
And a good race pace, John.
See you all in Imola

Re: Dijon - 27th of February - Round 2
Grats André for win and Rainer for joining the podium, well done!
This is a track suitable for more modern cars I thought maybe, until I realized that the up and down hills in turns were fun. Even though the curves are long and some very tight, it was a good experience this session.
During testing the left rear wheel overheated after just a few laps, this was frustrating of course, but the best lap times were set so early in each attempt. I was lucky with a downloaded setup that suited me well in general, changes to it did not help. Only driving more carefully with the gas pedal helped the overheating.
The start was good, but unexpectedly I managed to plant traction better than expected and arrived first at the first bend ahead of André. There I was in a window that I could push the car to keep some distance and that held for the first lap. In the next lap I lost grip and went into a right turn with a much too narrow track, was thus sent by the forces of nature to the left in front of André, it could have been dangerous, went well, and I lost speed, so he got past and continued at a better pace. He was in sight for a few laps before he disappeared. I had kept an eye on Rainer behind who by then mostly had some distance.
It was hard work the whole time and felt like a roller coaster. Unusual to get a little dizzy from all the winding hills and otherwise as usual triggered concentration but also felt the warning signals that can be useful. Was a little out of rhythm in one lap and noticed that Rainer was approaching. No signs of overheating of the wheel, so I knew that until the finish I just had to give it my all. Managed to keep Rainer behind me and saw the finish flag, very happy but of course tired from the race. Good fight and exemplary driving as always. Impressive to see such tidy performances like in this race. The track can be said to be forgiving compared to many others.
Thanks for the race, everyone!
