Hi everyone,
Nice to be back from a summer break.
Qualifying did go well. Pole was secured by a good margin.
Didn't have the best start but manged to hold off John in to turn 1. From there on I didn't look back. Had a solid pace throughout the race. With 7 laps remaining my tires was gone. Think I would have been better off with a 1 stop strategy.
Congratulation to John and Rainer for joining me on the podium.
See you all in Virginia.

Re: Goodwood65 - 14th of August 2025 - Round 7
Due to renovation chaos in our house, I was only able to train very little...and I actually need a lot of training.
This came back to haunt me in the first lap: once after the start and once after my planned tyre change stop halfway through the race.
During the first mistake in lap 1, I got stuck in hay bales in the last of the many right-hand corners and needed ShiftR (Bjorn copied me a few laps later). So I had to pit and was missing second gear for about 12 laps. Especially the first left turn was difficult without second gear.
After the crash following my pit stop, the car felt pretty crooked, so I decided to continue without repairs, but I was only able to achieve extremely slow lap times. After the tyres had worn down a little, the car was undriveable due to the damage, and I had to repair it after all. I should have done that right away...
Congratulations to André, John and Rainer!

I feel your pain regarding house renovations Olaf, I am going through a similar process myself at the moment, although my problems are related to tradesmen who fail to keep appointments or ignore attempts to contact them whch has put me about 4 months behind schedule at the moment. I currently have to climb over stuff to even get to my PC.
Well, that went a lot better than I had any right to expect. Testing had proved no stops were possible although it relied on me not making any mistakes which would adversely affect tyre wear. Early on in qualifying it was obvious André was in a class of his own. I was very surprised to get a 2nd place on the grid.
Start went well, I possibly could have beaten André into T1 if I had kept my foot planted off the line but having seen his qualifying time the last thing I wanted was to have him climbing all over my gearbox forcing me into an error or destroying my tyres trying to keep him at bay. So I stuck to the plan of bringing the tyres in slowly and was fortunate to be able to create a reasonable gap behind in the process.
Most of the race went according to plan, but I was very concerned for the final third of the race as Rainer was taking chunks of around a second a lap out of my advantage for the last 8 laps or so and a 20 second gap was down to about 7 seconds at the end. I did have a little in reserve had he got too close but knew the smallest mistake would have lost me my 2nd place so kept a close eye on Pribluda while counting down the laps.
Congratulations to André for another dominating drive, Rainer for the remaining podium spot and everyone who for sticking this one out until the end. Very few places where you can make a mistake without coming to grief around Goodwood.

Congratulations to André, John and Rainer. It was a good performance.
These cars are overpowered in relation to the grip, and it turned out that this fantastic track required a lot of balancing. I also didn't get to train that much this time but managed to set new pb's if I put together good laps.
The driving wasn't so smooth, and I missed several times. I had to reset the car and continued without repairing. I also lost second gear, but the Brabham went well in third in the tightest corners before second gear came back. I could brake later, so the top speed was reduced and there was some torque missing from low revs, so it wasn't that favourable. Still, those laps were easier to drive. I chose to go into the pit after a while. The tire wear wasn't very big, so I put more effort into some of the laps, but not for long, because then the rear wheels would overheat. Despite the problems, it was a nice race.
Thanks for the race, everyone!

@Bjorn: If You make ShiftR your engine power will be reduced - additional to the missing gear. If You repair the car in pits You get the full engine power back. Thats why I immediately stopp in Pits for repairing after ShiftR, except I'm crashing during the very last laps.

Yes, that was clarifying. In my case, the damage was minor so I continued, so I could take a delayed tire change when I had to pit anyway. On the graph it looks like it would have been about the same result without a pit stop, but that was something I obviously didn't know during the race. If the pace had gone down throughout the race, I would have taken more time. This is interesting stuff to study and learn from afterwards. Thanks for the good information Olaf.

With less engine power, rear tyre wear is lower. I hadn't really realised that yet. This means that the disadvantage of ShiftR is less than planned.
When I integrated the partial engine failure feature into dgp in 2016, the engine failure was stronger. It was so strong that gpl produced smoke...
Interest in dgp was low at the time – even lower than it is today. However, Jani Posta organised a summer cup with the patch, but with MOD66. In these 66 races, I noticed that the engine damage at the time was very noticeable. If you got stuck in the dirt, it was difficult to get back on the track.
That's why I reduced the engine damage. For the 67 cars, the original reduction is better. Actually, ShiftR was only intended to be an absolute emergency option, which has significant disadvantages. In this case, you should be forced to drive back to the pits.
Well, it was certainly an advantage for both of us, but actually it's not quite how it should be...
