Chassis Points 2017

Post by David Breedveld » 19 Nov 2016, 20:53

Hi all,

Which chassis points would you suggest for 2017?

I think it's fun to view which chassis is fast at which track. See the table below. :)

Image

Just imagine we would choose a scoring system where Cooper gets extra chassis points at Monza. :)

You can lose 96 seconds per race (when the race length is about 1 hour) when you choose Cooper instead of Lotus. The number 5.757 means that Cooper "should" get 5.757 points :motz: at Monza instead of 4. The table is based on WR laptimes from the spreadsheet GPL_HARDEST BENCHMARKS & CIRCUITS_RSC.xls made by Ducan Scheltens :daumenrauf: in 2008.

What do you think?

Best regards,
David

first: thanks, David, for the work. Interesting table in deed. (Finally some facts instead of guessing)

a) I always highlighted that a Brabham is undercredited and that all cars are not equally "bad" on different tracks.
You highlighted rightfully Monza.

b) Keep it simple, no mind boggling calculating in order to know what points you will get....

but

c) ... let's try your idea for 2017 !

we can always make a backflip and go back to the old system (or even better: a more-refined-2016-system)

thx & cu

Radek's proposal for 2017:
Radek Petera wrote: I mean something like Lotus 0, Eagle 0.5, Ferrari 2, Brabham 2.5, Cooper 3.5, Honda 4, BRM 5
but Cooper should get extra point in Spa and Monza
and we should reduce number of points from 100 to 20 or 15
This is:
base points: 20-19-18-17-16-15-14-13-etc.
Lot Eag Fer Brab Coo Hon BRM chassispoints other tracks: 0 0.5 2 2.5 3.5 4 5
Lot Eag Fer Brab Coo Hon BRM chassispoints Monza and Spa: 0 0.5 2 2.5 4.5 4 5

(To make the standings more readable, we can double base points and chassis points with the same results)

If there are few of us, we can cut it by 0.5 for Ferrari and higher
There might be a 0.5 bonus point for Brabham in Spa and Monza too
Anyway, I'd like to return to some well-known non-original tracks like Brands Hatch or Zeltweg

I suggest we choose one of these options.

Option 1
Lot 0 Eag 0.5 Fer 2 Brab 2.5 Coo 3.5 Hon 4 BRM 5 (all other tracks)
Lot 0 Eag 0.5 Fer 2 Brab 3.0 Coo 4.5 Hon 4 BRM 5 (Monza, Spa)

Option 2

Lot 0 Eag 0.5 Fer 1.5 Brab 2.0 Coo 3.0 Hon 3.5 BRM 4.5 (all other tracks)
Lot 0 Eag 0.5 Fer 1.5 Brab 2.5 Coo 4.0 Hon 3.5 BRM 4.5 (Monza, Spa)

And then double base and chassis points to get rounded numbers. :weg:

Let's choose option 1.

Lot 0 Eag 0.5 Fer 2 Brab 2.5 Coo 3.5 Hon 4 BRM 5 (all other tracks)
Lot 0 Eag 0.5 Fer 2 Brab 3.0 Coo 4.5 Hon 4 BRM 5 (Monza, Spa)

To make the results more readable, we double everything:

base points: 100-98-96-94-92-90-88-86-84-82-80-78-76-74-72-70-68-66-64-62
Lot 0 Eag 1 Fer 4 Brab 5 Coo 7 Hon 8 BRM 10 (all other tracks)
Lot 0 Eag 1 Fer 4 Brab 6 Coo 9 Hon 8 BRM 10 (Monza and Spa)
