A tough race of 3 laps :rolleyes: at Targa Florio. I'm in favour :bounce:

Does anyone have a suggestion on the starting order? Result of the Ringnacht? Current standings of the Challenge Cup? Slow chassis first and fast chassis last?

We can add a team competion to the race, two drivers per team, with a point system where team consistency is rewarded. :naughty:

BTW somebody told me about maxland, a nice little track, this is fun if we want something easy instead.

Regards,
David

One could, for example, ride a qualifying round. Who is not able at this time to start to join order.
You could set the qualifying time on 45 minutes. This should be enough.
Otherwise, the fun is indeed to go this route and to arrive!

Fun Event at Targa Florio! I now have a raceserver that is able to host this huge track.

The server will start loading the track at 19:05 :pfeif:
The server will start at 19:15
The quali ends at 20:15
The race is 3 laps :rolleyes:
When you arrive in the chatroom at 19:30, you'll have 45 minutes to qualify. This is enough to drive one qualifying lap.
We'll use the EOLC chatroom in VROC, because the racelist of VROC is back again.

GPL.exe is configured for 4 laps to allow the last driver to arrive before gpl quits the track.

Best regards,
David

How about staggering the start rally style? Set the practice time to maximum and send the drivers off with 30s-60s intervals. With laptimes in the 2700s the 19th car would have at maximum half a lap to the first when he gets going. And you avoid the situation where the whole grid tries to get underway on a tight curved start finish area.

Sounds interesting, we might do that one time. For this event, I stick to Claudio's proposal, because I want to see a tough race between the Targa Florio experts here, where they can see each other.

Thanks for mentioning that. Maybe we can avoid a traffic jam by using a very loose grid?

We race this year in the "Gentlemen League" the Targa. With normal start. It worked without problems. Even with the curve.

By the way: After the qualification time the server is running another 12 minutes further.

Normal start except single file, similar to the real thing?

[ starting_grid_0 ]
; 2x1 staggered grid
; polesitter on left
; track length is <71989.28>
; grid front center at <71975.00, 0.00>
; width between boxes 3.00
stall_0 = 71975.00 0
stall_1 = 71950.00 0
stall_2 = 71925.00 0
stall_3 = 71900.00 0
stall_4 = 71875.00 0
stall_5 = 71850.00 0
stall_6 = 71825.00 0
stall_7 = 71800.00 0
stall_8 = 71775.00 0
stall_9 = 71750.00 0
stall_10 = 71725.00 0
stall_11 = 71700.00 0
stall_12 = 71675.00 0
stall_13 = 71650.00 0
stall_14 = 71625.00 0
stall_15 = 71600.00 0
stall_16 = 71575.00 0
stall_17 = 71550.00 0
stall_18 = 71525.00 0
stall_19 = 71500.00 0

Thanks Greg. We're going to use this grid. I put it in the track.ini of targa on the race server.

I would like to suggest we open two pit lanes for refuelling:

1. at start/finish :bigdrink:
2. at km 0 (zero) of SP24 :bigdrink:

The second pit lane is 1.5 km after half way. It's easy to find, because the kilometer signs of SP24 count down from 10 to 0. The pit is located on the outside of a hairpin (lefthander). From that point SP9 leads to Collesano and Campofelice.

David
