Hells Teeth. Was psyched to try and make it 49 laps without a stop. Made it 1.5 laps and she blew.
Cheers all and Merry Christmas.

Horrible night for me. Simply had not had chance to practice much at a track I already hate from past experience.
Gained a place off the start but then messed up the entry to the final corner a few laps in dropping me to last place. Caught Olaf but was surprised by his braking point entering the loop and spun off and lost a wheel. Struggled back to the pits and took 3 repair attempts to get the steering anywhere close to straight ahead and set off well over a lap down. Ran alone for the remainder of my race until a re-occurring issue with cramp in my foot caused another mistake and I realised I simply couldn't continue without being a danger to anyone who got close so parked up.

Congratulations to Rainer for winning the race and to André for 2nd place.
Congratulations André for a solid victory in the championship and to Rainer for 2nd place.
PreQual: We have driven before on this handsome course; it was good to get to know it again.
Qual: Found the rhythm and set the lap time as I should.
Race: Followed those in front from the start and got a gap, but more gap from the back onwards. As a result of other's accidents, I came first in four laps before my chosen pit stop. This first stint was smooth, and the car felt quite controllable. However, there were a lot of short shifts when the tires were worn. As well as also thinking about the danger of engine failure after seeing that with Williams Ferrari. Had to push the chair forward a cm which disturbed me a bit. The gear changes were also a bit messy at times.
Came out of the pits with Rainer and André in front. I then pushed harder before the tire wear became apparent again. Set some good lap times there. Then it got harder, and my pace dropped, possibly the left rear wheel was overheating. Had to prioritize getting to the finish. On the very last laps I was able to increase a little and before the finish I had almost caught up with André. The tire wear was a little less on the second stint and in hindsight I could have done the race without a pit stop, but I don't know if that would have been beneficial. Had to drive very carefully in that case.
Happy to finish so well. Missed seeing Tago and Seb.
The season has been good with many nice races and for me the Ferrari worked well. As commented many times before, this patch provides exciting races and there is still endless more to learn in addition to the general ability to find a setup and driving style that matches together.
I thank everyone involved and have a merry Christmas!
Then we'll see you in the new year.

Code: Select all
PITSTOP LISTING
20:15 90.6s J.Hammonds Repair/Tire change
28:49 76.6s O.Lehmann Repair/Refuel
33:08 41.6s B.Finnestad Tire change/Refuel
André was champion so early on that I didn't even realize he was. Congratulations in retrospect!
Rainer got better and better at the end of the season...
I'm pleased that you find my patch a real asset, Björn. Unfortunately, very few people in the GPL scene do.
That's why our field of drivers is very small.
For a short time, we even considered what we would do if we had more than 18 participants. Over time, we gradually became fewer and fewer.
When we already had a DirtgearCup in EOLC (in INT mode, so that everyone could see the checkered flag), I decided in 2014 - when we had fewer than 10 participants - not to continue it.
We are now always well under 10 participants. As I was and still am fascinated by the high standard - especially the low drop-out rate - I continued to take part.
Now José Luis has also left us, which is a big loss for me because he was riding at a very similar level to me.
That's why my motivation has dropped quite a bit. What's more, I keep getting technical problems right on the day of the race - just now again: on Thursday my steering wheel was once again not recognized, although there were no problems on the days before.
If everyone who is registered on the training server would take part in the races, things would look better... I'm still undecided whether to continue or not.
In any case, I would like to take this opportunity to thank André and Dag for the energy you have put into this league. Without you, the patch would have disappeared into oblivion.

Thank you all for that!
I was bit unfocused today. Happy with a P2 in the end.
As Olaf also mentions, we are not to many anymore. And I feel the motivation to host the league is falling.
I will use the Christmas period to think through what to do in 2025.

..ups, I missed that one. I thought raceday is 19th - due to GPLWeekly -my fault, to much stress jobwise, no time for preparation..
Gratulations for the title André, you did a good job - I always liked the broadcasting of HIES very much! Thank you for that!
Thank you Olaf for your very interesting input and everybody else for the fun and thrill!!
Hopefully meet you soon on some track somewhere.

Re: WatGlen71 - 12th of December 2024 -Round 14
I've given it some more thought.
Apart from cancelling the race completely and simply carrying on as before, I thought of other options:
1. if we switched to INT mode, we would have more riders in the race as everyone could finish. Maybe Magni and Floristrazio would also dare to take part in the official races.
2. at the end of 2023 I had already thought about stopping for the same reasons as today. Then André had the idea of organising fewer races...and I immediately felt more like continuing to take part. Maybe it would be a possibility to organise even fewer races, i.e. every four weeks...
Well, I'm not sure myself if these are good ideas. I myself like the dg INT mode better, but it only works if everyone would agree to continue despite the handicap and I'm not sure about that...

By the way: Happy Christmas to all!
