Re: Sandown68 - 19.04.2026 - Round 5
Congratulations Rainer and Roberto!
Testing and prequal:
Got the setup balanced and made progress. The Dunlop curves are proving to be crucial for lap time and difficult to take correctly.
Qual:
Drove one stint until the tank was empty. Was worried before we got going, but good thing André fixed what needed fixing and suddenly the race appeared on IGOR. Chat on IGOR was also down.
Race:
No stops were necessary in this race, but the left front wheel got a lot of wear and started to lock up under braking. I also missed because of my mistakes, a few times towards the end of the race, but saved myself every time. A few years ago, I would have probably crashed. On lap 53 I came out on the grass in the corner after the first straight. Then suddenly Roberto and Olaf were right behind me. I almost crashed into the Dunlop bridge too, but then they both easily got past me. Happy to finish without any major problems and ended up on the podium too.
Thanks to André and Olaf for the administration!
Thanks everyone for the race, see you at Sachsenring

PITSTOP LISTING

44:00 28.6s A.Jahren Refuel
44:34 34.4s O.Lehmann Repair
47:19 36.6s O.Lehmann RepairOn a track like Sandown, where overtaking is difficult, deciding to make a pit stop for a tire change can be a disadvantage.
Unfortunately, my tire-wearing driving style left me with little choice but to do so.
Until my pit stop, I was in second place and had a few seconds’ lead to the third. The stop cost me three positions, and I dropped back to fifth. I was faster than Seb (which wasn’t hard with new tires). My attempt to pass him in the fast right-left section before the start/finish line unfortunately failed. Fortunately, I didn’t send Seb into a spin or worse.
After my pit stop (and a second one), I returned to the track in heavy traffic. Rainer was driving behind me (but two laps ahead of me), while Björn and Roberto were ahead of me (but had one lap more than me). I watched live that Roberto secured second place.
I hope I overlapped people didn’t irritate you three too much.
Congrats to Rainer, Roberto, and Björn!
BR Olaf
